JOB DESCRIPTION
DEPARTMENT: Production
JOB TITLE: Production Potter
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Performs a variety of skilled pottery production tasks that may include any or all of the following: throwing, hand building, processing and studio upkeep in our small on location studio.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
THROWING
-Production throwing of set dimensions with consistent shapes in an efficient & timely manner
STAMPING & APPLYING HANDLES
- Production stamping and applying handles so that all pieces are identical
PROCESSING
-Greenware buffing, loading/unloading kilns, waxing & engobing bisqueware, glazing pieces
HAND BUILDING
-Hand building items as needed for production studio as well as using an extruder & slab roller
ALL
- Understands and abides by all safety, operating and care requirements.
- Adheres to all safety standards and procedures and follows proper safety precautions at all times
- Keeps wheel and wheel areas clean.
- Clean up immediate work area at the end of each work shift
- Tracks and records production timing information
- Follows regular shop and equipment maintenance schedule.
- Assists with regular inventory and keeps accurate records.
- Perform other duties as assigned
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
Position reports to the Production Manager
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior clay & throwing experience
Strong hand/eye coordination & attention to detail
Ability to communicate and work closely with other employees in a team environment
Organizational skills, strong powers of concentration, ability to meet deadlines, and ability to visualize in three dimensions
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to discern and address quality problems
Must be able to wear masks and use other required safety items.
Demonstrated ability to meet quality and productivity goals
Flexibility in dealing with rapidly changing production schedules

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $15.50 - $16.50 per hour
