Schedule: Wednesday 8-1, Friday 12-5, Saturday 9-2 ( 15 hours/ week)
Position Overview
Under direct supervision of the Assistant Circulation Supervisor the Library Kiosk Aide performs routine repetitive clerical and/or non-complex library duties involving, but not limited to, providing excellent customer service by assisting patrons with food and beverage orders and handling cash and credit/debit transactions. Work is performed in accordance with well-defined procedures. Although some duties are performed under direct supervision, Library Kiosk Aide may perform duties with some independence once procedures are learned.

Essential Duties:
- Kiosk:
- Assist patrons with food and beverage orders. Prepare orders and calculate amount due for items purchased.
- Operate cash register making change and taking money for items purchased such as food, beverages, copies, and charges for supply items and library services as needed.
- Adhere to food handling guidelines as required by the county health department.
- Regularly wipe down and examine patron seating areas in the lobby to keep area tidy and clean.
- May answer routine or directional inquiries or refer patrons to appropriate staff for assistance.
- Prepare kiosk for business; stock inventory of items sold, prepare cash drawer and register for operation.
- Prepare kiosk for closing; clean kiosk area and close out cash drawer.
- Shelving:
- Shelve library materials by type, broad subject field, alphabetically or numerically by information on spine or label.
- Shift materials from one location to another in accordance with specific instructions.
- Regularly examine shelves to determine if materials are properly placed (e.g., shelf read).
- Straighten; make shelves and area around the shelves look neat.
- May pull available materials from the shelves and process them to fill holds.
- May pull expired and cancelled holds from the available hold shelf and process them for shelving or new holds.
- May troubleshoot the Holds process, consulting with supervisor as necessary for successful resolution of complex problems.
- May answer routine or directional inquiries or refer patrons to appropriate staff for assistance.
- Load book carts and put in alphabetical or Dewey Decimal order to be shelved in appropriate collections.
- Regularly empty all outside book drops, and indoor book drops as requested.
- Transport loaded book carts to designated areas in the stacks as assigned.
- Maintain the log showing the number of carts to be shelved within each collection area by accurately recording new carts and completed carts.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Scheduling and shift assignments and work location may be changed at any time, as required by business necessity.
Physical, Environmental, and Special Working Conditions:
- Position requires standing for extended periods of time, pushing bookcarts, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting, and working on a computer.
- Moderately quiet work environment. Work will be required on evenings and weekends.
- All library employees may be called upon to assist other departments in a declared emergency situation.

Qualifications
Minimum Job Requirements:
Minimum age of 16 years and completion of the tenth grade of high school or equivalent education.Columbia/Boone County Health food handlers card required after hire.
Preferred Job Requirements:
Prefer up to one month related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
