We are looking for a motivated and policy-savvy self-starter to join our Public and Government Affairs team in Washington, D.C. The ideal candidate understands the key policy issues dominating the U.S. legislative and regulatory agenda and is well-versed in stakeholder, media, policymaker, and regulator perspectives on these issues. This person should know the U.S. regulatory landscape, policymaking procedures, and how to use all forms of media to shape business-critical public policymaking outcomes in Washington.


This role will work with clients across industries and support clients in the technology sector. The ideal candidate would have experience working on technology policy issues, including areas such as data privacy, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, competition, and digital infrastructure.

Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the operational performance of accounts, ensuring high-quality work and timely deliverables. 
  • Support the development and execution of client materials, campaign plans and strategic goals, working with cross-functional teams to implement them effectively. 
  • Write and edit content for multi-channel communication plans, including strategy documents, press materials, website content, email campaigns, SMS messaging, and digital ads. 
  • Oversee client deliverables and address client needs with thoughtful and strategic solutions. 
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including industry coalitions, trade associations, and advocacy groups. 
  • Support team leaders in delivering client materials on time and error-free.  
  • Identify opportunities to expand client engagement by introducing new capabilities, building industry relationships, and participating in relevant professional organizations. 
  • Commit to continuous learning and improvement of leadership skills, setting and pursuing stretch goals. 
  • Demonstrate behaviors aligned with Edelman’s values and Code of Ethics and Business Conduct. 


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • At least 2 to 3 years of relevant experience at a public affairs agency and/or related fields including campaigns and elections, public relations, research, advertising, management consulting, media and publishing.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with technology industry and an understanding of technology policy and regulatory issues such as data privacy, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure. 
  • Experience working on political or policy campaigns and federal elections, Capitol Hill, or with State Legislatures is strongly desired. 
  • Existing relationships within the political and advocacy space. 
  • Strong client and interpersonal skills; ability to manage relationships and communicate effectively by phone, email, and in-person. 
  • Works well in a team-based collaborative environment that focuses on outcomes. 
  • Superior ability to write and edit documents and content to ensure clarity, persuasion and polish.

$60,000 - $80,000 a year
An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, travel requirements, revenue-based metrics, any contractual agreements, and business or organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of DJEH’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, a Paid Time Off policy, and region-specific benefits.
