Overview
A Diesel Mechanic is responsible for performing various mechanical maintenance and repairs on offshore facilities. The role requires expertise in diesel engines, with a focus on troubleshooting and repairing mechanical systems on offshore platforms.
Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical maintenance and repairs on Cat Diesel and Detroit 71 & 53 series engines.
- Service, maintain, and test engine shutdown systems.
- Troubleshoot diesel engine issues and complete field repairs as needed.
- Apply knowledge of engine systems and engine controls to ensure proper function.
- Conduct in-frame overhauls and complete rebuilds when required.
- Repair pumps and other mechanical equipment as needed.
- Communicate daily status and production reports to customer representatives.
- Read and interpret drawings and technical manuals for repair guidance.
- Promote good housekeeping methods on the platform to maintain a safe work environment.
Qualifications
- 5 years' experience offshore/in-land as a diesel engine mechanic.
- Willingness to work a call-out schedule.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Valid TWIC card.
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to travel by helicopter or boat and use a swing rope.
