PURPOSE
The Production Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the machining department, ensuring production targets are met while maintaining high standards of quality, safety and efficiency. The Production Supervisor role requires a strong background in machining processes and LEAN manufacturing principles to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Production Management
- Supervise and coordinate daily machining operations, ensuring production schedules are met.
- Allocate resources, assign tasks, and monitor progress to meet production goals.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, minimizing defects and rework.
- Maintain production records and generate reports for management.
Team Leadership
- Lead, train, and mentor a team of machinists, technicians, and operators.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Promote a safe and positive work environment.
LEAN Manufacturing Implementation
- Apply LEAN principles to improve workflow, reduce waste, and increase efficiency.
- Conduct value stream mapping and implement 5S, Kaizen, and other LEAN tools.
- Monitor and analyze production metrics to identify areas for improvement.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives and engage team members in problem-solving.
Machining Operations Expertise
- Oversee setup, operation, and troubleshooting of CNC and manual machining equipment.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to optimize machining processes.
- Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of machinery and tools.
- Monitor tooling usage and inventory to reduce downtime and costs.
Quality Assurance
- Ensure production adheres to ISO standards, customer specifications, and internal quality guidelines.
- Address non-conformance issues promptly and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with the quality department to perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
Safety and Compliance
- Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards.
- Conduct safety audits and provide training to employees on safe work practices.
- Investigate and resolve incidents, implementing measures to prevent recurrence.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical degree or equivalent in manufacturing, engineering or a related field preferred.
- Work History: Minimum 5 years’ experience in machining operations with at least 7 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of CNC machining, G-code programming, and tool selection
- Proficiency with machining equipment including mills, lathes and grinders
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM software and production planning tools
- Proven experience implementing LEAN manufacturing principles
- Certification in LEAN or Six Sigma (preferred).
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in using ERP/MRP systems for production scheduling and inventory management.
- Strong communication skills to interact with cross-functional teams and management.
- Ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions to improve production
Additional Details
- Must be able to pass a thorough background check including a drug screen.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and be able to review and access ITAR, CUI, NNPI and similar regulations and material.
