Short Description

The District of Columbia’s Department of Employment Services (DOES) is seeking a General Clerk to tactfully and professionally provide, obtain, and clarify information and respond to customer inquiries. The ideal candidate will possess 2 years with excellent verbal and written communication skills, 2 years working with youth between the ages of 14-24, and 2 years of scheduling and managing appointments.


* Must have experience working with youth between the ages of 14-24


Required Skills/Years of Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 years of experience working with youth between the ages of 14-24, providing support, guidance, or services tailored to this age group
  • 1 years of experience with excellent verbal and written communication skills


Complete Description

The District of Columbia’s Department of Employment Services (DOES) is seeking a General Clerk to tactfully and professionally provide, obtain, and clarify information and respond to customer inquiries. The ideal candidate will possess 2 years with excellent verbal and written communication skills, 2 years working with youth between the ages of 14-24, and 2 years of scheduling and managing appointments.


The General Clerk will be tasked to:

  • Communicate both orally and in writing to provide, obtain, and clarify information and respond to customer inquiries
  • Use tact and discretion when communicating with customers and dealing with adverse situations
  • Maintain professionalism in high-pressure or emotionally charged situations
  • Schedule and manage appointments in a youth-focused setting
  • Work with youth and families in a customer service capacity
  • Manage sensitive or confidential information
  • Apply knowledge of personal computers and standard software to complete tasks and address inquiries
  • Complete other related duties as assigned
