Job Summary
Are you a compassionate and experiencedNurse who loves working with children? Join our team for an exciting summer as the Day Camp Nurse and ensure the health and well-being of our campers.
We’re looking for a caring and responsible individual to provide medical care and ensure the health and safety of our campers throughout the summer. This position is perfect for an RN with experience working with children who enjoys an active, fun environment.
As the camp nurse, you will provide immediate medical care, manage health conditions, and assist in promoting a safe and healthy camp experience.
Camp Dates: June 16, 2025 through August 15th, 2025
Monday through Friday 8:30am - 3:30pm.
The Camp Nurse will begin in May working 4-6 hours per week to assist with pre-camp administrative tasks related to health and safety preparation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review and follow all 'Camp Standing Orders' and camp protocol per the camp doctor.
- Review all camp health forms. Keep complete and current medical records for each camper and staff member including Permission to Permit Medication and Doctor's Orders forms and records of medication dose administration.
- Provide immediate first aid and direct medical care to campers in a day camp setting, including administering medications and maintaining camper health records.
- Log all treatment given to campers into a bound Camp Medical Log. Maintain individual written medication administration records for each camper to be reviewed prior to administering each dose of medication.
- Ensure all medication is stored in the original child-resistant safety container and is properly labeled.
- Collaborate with camp leadership to ensure a safe and healthy camp environment.
- Perform other duties pertaining to the Day Camp Nurse role deemed necessary, reasonable and appropriate as instructed by the Day Camp Director.
Qualifications:
- Must have valid Connecticut Registered Nursing License.
- Must have current CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certificate.
- Must have current EpiPen training course certificate.
- Ability to work well with children, parents and co-workers.
- Previous experience with school-age children is preferred.
- Experience working in a camp, school, or pediatric care setting is a plus.
- Ability to remain calm and organized during emergencies.
- Passion for working with children in a fun, fast-paced, outdoor environment.
- Must be available to work full-time throughout the summer camp season.
