Darrowby Farm Sanctuary, a 501(c)3 nonprofit in Jefferson, Maine, seeks a part-time (20 hours/week) Major Gifts Officer. Pay for this job is $4,000 per month.
The Major Gifts Officer works with the Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer to steward current major donors, primarily focusing on identifying and cultivating new prospects.
A high standard of communication skills is key for this position. We seek a person who understands the farm sanctuary movement and Darrowby’s role in it, who can make themselves familiar with our operations and our residents, and who can clearly and persuasively communicate our mission to our constituents. A familiarity with midcoast Maine, experience in philanthropic giving, and a high level of emotional intelligence are also key qualities for this role.
The manager of the major gift program will:
- –Help our donors accomplish their philanthropic goals through a relationship with our organization
- –Secure major gifts at the $1,000 to $25,000 level with the goal of raising $100,000 annually
- –Manage systems and software to track and cultivate donors and prospects, including our donor database and wealth screening tools
- –Manage existing portfolio of donors and prospects
- –Make direct, face-to-face solicitations, and assist the board and other staff with their solicitation (e.g. provide portfolio development support, strategic counsel, and help with donor communications)
- –Acknowledge major donors through public and private recognition
- –Track and report progress using specific metrics

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
