Position Purpose
The Director of Digital Media and Marketing Technology provides strategic leadership and oversight of the Tuck School’s web ecosystem, aligning digital platforms and marketing technologies with the institution’s mission, strategy, and priorities. This role ensures the delivery of a seamless, engaging, and innovative user experience across all digital touchpoints, leveraging expertise in marketing, web strategy, user-centered design, and analytics to enhance brand presence and achieve institutional goals. This position leads and directs Tuck’s web environment, including all websites and marketing systems, manages relevant staff, including the Digital Media Manager, and oversees the relationships with Tuck’s external web development vendor.

Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in digital marketing, analytics, web development, communications, or related field
  • 8 years of experience in digital marketing, web strategy, and analytics, with demonstrated expertise in leading data-driven campaigns and projects.
  • Expertise in web technologies such as CMS platforms, HTML, and JavaScript. Excellent technical skills and proven mastery of HTML/XHTML and web publishing software, web design tools, content management systems, WordPress, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong understanding of SEO, SEM, email marketing, and social media advertising.
  • Experience with A/B testing, personalization, and conversion rate optimization (CRO).
  • Knowledge of marketing automation platforms like Pardot.
  • Excellent project management and leadership skills, with experience managing teams and external vendors.
  • Commitment to accessibility standards and inclusive design principles, as well as ethical practices and privacy compliance (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Able to support, contribute to, and strengthen a vibrant, culturally diverse, and inclusive learning community of students, alumni, faculty, and fellow professionals.
  • Experience in higher education or mission-driven organizations.

Description
Website Strategy, Execution and Maintenance:
  • Leads and develops the architecture of Tuck’s web environment, including designing and building all Tuck websites and engagement portals.
  • Plans, executes, and maintains websites using the latest content management system software and HTML programming, ensuring web content is dynamic, responsive, user- and mobile-friendly, meets accessibility requirements, and is optimized for SEO.
  • Enables streamlined content updates and workflows.
  • Partners with Tuck Information Technology to maintain servers and databases.
  • Partners with Tuck’s external web development vendor and IT to ensure the security, scalability and reliability of web infrastructure.

Analytics and Performance Measurement:
  • Leads the implementation and use of advanced analytics platforms such as Google Analytics, Tag Manager, Search Console and custom dashboards to track performance metrics and user behavior.
  • Conducts regular analysis of website and marketing campaign performance, identifying opportunities for improvement and reporting results to stakeholders.
  • Utilizes A/B testing, heatmaps, and other optimization techniques to enhance user engagement and conversions.
  • Integrates data from multiple platforms (web, email, social, CRM) to provide actionable insights for continuous improvement.
  • Monitors and reports on website traffic and activity to assist departments and leadership in formulating and evaluating communications strategies and priorities.

Digital Marketing Strategy:
  • Directs the design, development and deployment of various e-newsletters and digital communications for Tuck departments, centers, and initiatives. Using analytics, evaluates the degree to which departmental objectives for newsletters and digital communications are achieved.
  • Develops strategies for personalized and segmented content across email and web platforms to engage diverse audiences.
  • Supports integration with various CRM systems across departments to include Slate, Salesforce, and CRO solutions like HALDA.
  • Partners to develop and implement comprehensive digital marketing strategies to increase visibility, engagement, and conversions across multiple channels, including websites, email, social media, and paid campaigns.
  • Ensures digital marketing aligns with broader institutional goals and brand messaging, using innovative approaches to maximize audience reach.
  • Integrates analytics and data-driven decision-making into marketing strategies, leveraging insights to refine campaigns and optimize ROI.
  • Stays informed on industry trends and emerging tools to incorporate best practices in digital marketing and analytics.

Team Leadership and Vendor Collaboration:
  • Hires, supervises, and coaches team members. Manages and mentors the Digital Media Manager, fostering professional growth and ensuring high-quality work.
  • Leads relationships with external web development vendors, ensuring deliverables align with project goals, timelines, and institutional priorities. Evaluates and advises on service agreements for web services, digital archive services, CRM solutions and other software.
  • Gains knowledge of and shares insights into pertinent trends and innovations through market research, participation in peer networks and associations, and attending and representing Tuck at conferences or seminars.
