What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ophthalmic Assistant position at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center?
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Interact with patients at all levels of care in the ophthalmology clinic.
- Perform basic ophthalmic exams in preparation for next steps of care.
- Collect and enter complete and accurate information into the patients’ electronic medical record.
- Prepare patient, room, supplies, and equipment for exams and procedures.
- Inventory, cleaning, care, and maintenance of ophthalmic equipment, supplies, and exam rooms.
- Recognize and comply with all national, local, and institutional laws, regulations, policies, and procedures with regard to patient privacy and safety.
- Assist fellow staff and physicians with daily tasks.
- Willing and able to learn special testing and ancillary skills as needed.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or the equivalent required.
Required Licensure/Certifications
- Basic Life Support certification required within 60 days
