DATASYST is a small Company that provides product development and verification testing for many Fortune 500 manufacturers as well as small business manufacturers. We have the opportunity to perform a diverse set of tests on a diverse set of products, from lighting to power tools to medical equipment! We specialize in a variety of data acquisition testing and environmental testing such as mechanical vibration, shock, load, climactic, humidity, temperature and fatigue. We perform most of our projects on site in our 25,000 sq. ft. laboratory and also accommodate field work. Position Description
We are excited to be seeking a qualified Test Technician to join our team immediately! A successful individual is intrinsically motivated and accountable. This individual will either peform independently or assist on a variety of tasks including fixture design, fabrication, test set-up, test execution, client updates and reporting. Associate is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the mechanical / environmental testing field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals with a certain degree of creativity and latitude required. Works with general supervision and reports to the Project Managers and President or Test Engineer if assisting.
Responsibilities
- Completes test performance (including test setup, fixturing, execution and tear down) on customer products to the provided criteria involving mechanical, electrical, environmental, and electromechanical functions through ISO 17025 and Laboratory Scope of Operations
- Assists with general laboratory troubleshooting both independently and under the direct guidance of the the Maintenance and Controls Engineer.
- Works cohesively with internal team and customer throughout design, set up and testing processes
- Assist in the fabrication of components to support the design of the testing
- Interpretation and comprehensive of formal engineering specifications as well as customer derived work instructions.
- Assists in the implements preventative maintenance and/or repairs on equipment as needed
- Utilizes an intersection of creative and analytical thinking
- Correctly allocates all labor and machine time used in the appropriate project
- Assists customers in critical times such as product failure and production deadlines
- Communicates effectively across the Company and with the customer throughout the testing process and internal improvement projects.
- Document and compile test data and details into a comprehensive report, deliverable to the customer or the Company based on project scope.
Requirements:
- Experience with test equipment (environmental chambers, electrodynamic shakers, etc.) and a product testing environment is preferred.
- Ability and preference to work with a diverse group of customer products.
- 3 or more years of experience in a relevant field.
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, small machining equipment and welding
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, LabView or other data acquisition software, SolidWorks or other CAD system desired.
- Familiar with engineering technical specifications and product drawings
- Knowledge of AC and DC circuits and electronic control equipment
- Experience with various transducers and electrical monitoring equipment
- Enjoys working independently as well as in a team
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate efficiently with team members, suppliers and customers
- Uses reasoning to compare strengths and weaknesses to alternative solutions, conclusions and approaches
- Utilizes an intersection of creative and analytical thinking
- Ability to work on a variety of tasks in a high volume environment
- Ability to apply knowledge during test design, set up and monitoring as well as during maintenance and repairs
- Conduct 1-2 monthly onsite "Weekend Checks"; monitor test outputs and documentobservations in Test Log (typically under 30 minutes).
