Dauphin County Technical School is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Culinary Arts Instructor to lead our high school Culinary Arts program. This full-time position offers the opportunity to transform your industry experience into meaningful instruction that prepares students for careers in culinary, baking, hospitality, and restaurant management.

You’ll guide students through industry-based curriculum, hands-on food preparation, and real-world kitchen operations in our fully equipped instructional kitchens and restaurant-style facility.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Minimum of 4 years of full-time, paid work experience in professional food service, culinary arts, or restaurant management
  • Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food safety, nutrition, baking, restaurant service, and culinary trends
  • Ability to engage and motivate high school students in a hands-on environment
  • Strong organizational skills and commitment to a safe, clean, and efficient kitchen space
  • Willingness to obtain a PA Career & Technical Instructional Certificate (support provided)
  • Teaching experience is not required — just a passion for your craft and helping students grow

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging instruction aligned with CIP 12.0508 – Institutional Food Workers
  • Instruct students in food prep, baking & pastry, kitchen safety, sanitation, and restaurant service
  • Prepare students for NOCTI and relevant industry-recognized certifications (e.g., ServSafe)
  • Oversee catering projects, student-run events, and classroom restaurant experiences
  • Track student progress, maintain accurate records, and support IEPs where applicable
  • Support students in SkillsUSA, community service, work-based-learning, and co-op experiences
  • Maintain industry relationships and lead an active Occupational Advisory Committee

  • School Personnel Health Record (including TB test)
  • Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release Forms (Act 168)
