The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption (DTFA) is a national nonprofit public charity dedicated exclusively to finding permanent homes for the more than 140,000 children waiting in North America’s foster care systems. Created by Wendy’s® founder Dave Thomas who was adopted, the Foundation implements evidence-based, results-driven national service programs, foster care adoption awareness campaigns and innovative grantmaking.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Under the direction of the senior director, partnerships, the manager, partnerships will support the strategic growth of the Foundation’s donated revenue sources to advance our mission. This role will focus on relationship management support, working closely with the Wendy’s Partnerships team to help meet or exceed Foundation fundraising goals and increase awareness and support for the Foundation’s mission.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Support the Wendy’s partnerships team in the United States and Canada to achieve or exceed financial goals established by the Foundation through effective strategy and partner engagement
- Manage in-restaurant campaign cycle (Boo! Books, Frosty Key Tags, Canisters, Wristbands, Round Up, Pin ups, Halloween Coupon Books etc.), including the campaign funds remittance process, gift card fulfillment and basic POS campaign reporting as requested
- Support the implementation, scaling and project management of Round-Up with Wendy’s Company and franchisee sites to ensure smooth implementation and stakeholder engagement
- Foster strong day-to-day communication and relationships with Wendy’s stakeholders, ensuring key information is shared thoughtfully and effectively with the relevant team members
- Create presentation materials and spreadsheets to support key fundraising initiatives and donor stewardship activities
- Develop and maintain a small portfolio of Wendy’s franchisees where appropriate
2. Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to manage the existing comprehensive donor stewardship program for in-restaurant campaigns, franchise and Wendy’s corporate-related giving, plus support and develop the implementation of new, strategic stewardship initiatives
- Lead the implementation of future stewardship initiatives, including with supplier donors and Wendy’s Restaurants of Canada
- Manage audit and update contact information for in-restaurant campaigns, franchise and Wendy’s corporate-related giving as well as supplier donor records, in partnership with the operations team
3. Support the director, events with detailed execution of event logistics for Wendy’s related fundraising events
- Solicit in-kind donations from individuals, corporations and businesses to support the Foundation’s programs and events
- Assist with the execution of events including event coordination, logistics, volunteer management and event follow-up
- Represent the Foundation at events, ensuring the utmost professionalism and enhancement of the Foundation’s reputation
4. Contribute to shared department efforts, including but not limited to mailings, data entry, donor experiences, phone calls and appeals as appropriate
- Lead documentation and proactive communication around donor recognition and reporting efforts
- Provide administrative support, as needed, with Wendy’s fulfillment & shipping items (including pins, certificates, auction items and wristbands)
5. Perform other duties as necessary or assigned
Requirements

- Ability to demonstrate tremendous self-awareness and exceptional interpersonal skills including the ability to navigate complex relationships and foster successful outcomes
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and the ability to learn and use a donor management system; advanced Excel skills and experience with analyzing data sets is a plus
- Adaptability and comfort working in ambiguous situations with proactive problem-solving abilities
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Undergraduate degree required
- Minimum of 4-6 years of business development, account management, corporate engagement or business to business sales experience
- Previous experience collaborating with executives, business owners or entrepreneurs is preferred
- 1 year of experience in event or project coordination, with a focus on planning and execution in fast-paced, high-pressure environments preferred
- Non-profit experience a plus

Moderate travel required
