What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation Project Manager/Task Lead position at David Evans and Associates?
Our ideal candidate would be a Project Manager proficient with horizontal and vertical alignment design, erosion and sediment control design, A.D.A. requirements, utility relocations, coordination with bridge engineers and other engineering and environmental disciplines, earthwork, quantity take-offs, specifications, and engineers’ estimates. Stormwater/sanitary sewer/waterline design and traffic engineering design experience, including traffic signals and illumination, is a plus. Responsibilities for our Transportation Project Manager will include but are not limited to the following:
Job Responsibilities
Project Management: Lead and manage projects for local agencies and the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), overseeing scope, schedule, budget, quality control, and financial management.
Design Leadership: Provide technical direction and task leadership for transportation projects, ensuring excellence in project execution with on-time, on-budget, and high-quality deliverables.
Technical Expertise: Utilize AutoCAD and Civil 3D for design and plan development, ensuring compliance with contractual and quality management requirements through document and deliverable reviews.
Team Collaboration: Serve as Deputy Project Manager or Task Lead on larger, multi-discipline projects, partnering with the Team Leader to support employee development and project delivery.
Mentorship and Talent Development: Mentor and train junior staff, help attract and retain key talent, and assist in setting expectations, managing performance, and recognizing achievements.
Business Development: Support consistent and effective business development efforts and serve as a pursuit champion as appropriate.
Process Adherence: Follow firmwide tools, processes, and policies, including project accounting, contracting, and quality assurance requirements.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
5+ years of applicable transportation design work
5+ years as Project Manager on local agency and DOT road and highway projects
Professional Engineer in the State of Washington (or ability to obtain comity with other state)
Proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D
Working knowledge of Highway Runoff Manual and WWHM modeling to meet the requirements of DOE Stormwater Management Manual for Western Washington
Ability to communicate and work in a team-oriented environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Local WA agency or Washington Department of Transportation experience
Working knowledge of MicroStation/InRoads design platforms

Anticipated salary range for this position is $105,000 to $145,000 and is based on applicable experience
