Summary:
The New Beginnings Senior Counselor is responsible for the protection, care, and supervision of the UACs as he/she coordinates the work of the child care Counselors on his/her shift in the cottage life routines. This includes but not limited to bookkeeping, housekeeping, supplies, shopping, meal planning, general discipline issues.
Roles and Responsibilities:

Supervise Counselors in all aspects of their duties.

Work directly with Counselors in areas where they may be having trouble understanding and/or following through with their job responsibilities. Follow up with appropriate disciplinary action and documentation when needed.

Fill in for Counselors when needed.

Ensure that all counselors have completed weekly task

Receive all forms for Cottage/Group Home of the Week, reviewing them to help evaluate proper disciplinary procedures, and determining awards.

Coordinate Counselors schedules and approve requests for time off.

Help coordinate transportation needs of the agency with the Transportation Aide, Recreation Staff, and Counselors, medical appointments, Discharge Transports and court.

Help with training new staff.

Ensure that Counselors receive training in and obtain a Class B license. Conduct driving proficiencies.

Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Minimum of a high school diploma.
- Two years of college or Bachelors degree in Social Science from an accredited institution of higher learning preferred.
- Must have a valid California drivers license, and be eligible to obtain a Class C license
- Three to five years of child care experience in a residential treatment center or group home is preferred.
- Must be able to relate well and provide crisis intervention services to emotionally disturbed adolescents.
- Demonstrated proficiency in knowledge and application of agency policies and procedures.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and basic computer and typing skills.
- Experience in supervising other staff is preferred.
- Bilingual
