General Statements of Duties
Provides assistance to Playground Supervisors and participants.
Distinguishing Features of the Class
An employee in this position provides assistance to the Playground Supervisor and oversees/assists participants with activities. Work is performed under the immediate supervision of the Playground Supervisor and the Recreation Activities Program Manager.
Illustrative Examples of Work
- Provides assistance to the Playground Supervisors and participants.
- Assists with ensuring each child signs in each morning, signs out each afternoon and is picked up by the proper person.

- Ensures the facilities are as safe as possible and that equipment is being used properly.
- Monitors the playground participants, the environment and their safety.
- Notifies Playground Supervisor of any issues or problems.
- Assists with participant registration.
- Works with other staff members in planning the next day’s activities.
- Assists in cleaning and closing the facility at the end of the day.
- Adheres to the department’s safety rules and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements
- Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational support functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing for long periods, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
- Must be able to perform light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- Must be able to perform light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- Worker is required to have close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures.

Education and Experience
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Must successfully complete Davidson County’s New Hire Orientation on first day of employment.
Licenses and Certifications
- Birth Certificate if under age 18.
- Must possess a valid North Carolina Driver License.
