Position Description: The Cost Accountant at Davidson Homes will hold a variety of responsibilities within the General Ledger, Financial Accounting & Reporting, The Cost Accountant role will be vital in driving financial efficiency and supporting the overall financial health of the company.
- Facilitate the month-End close process through the preparation of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial statement analysis.
- Provide key data and recommendations to management in the areas of job cost analysis and cost to complete projections.
- Manage all aspects of the Job Costing, Work in Progress, and Inventory systems.
- Assess divisional cost reports for home sales to ensure that all applicable costs are captured in the system for each home closing.
- Review real estate settlement statements to ensure consistency with home purchase agreements and loan payoff amounts.
- Evaluate the accounting for potentially complex transactions and ensure adherence with GAAP and the company’s accounting policies.
- Coordinate the processing and payment of taxes for divisions, including property taxes and other division specific municipal taxes.
- Review Division Overhead expenditures to ensure adequate approval and correct accounting classification.
- Provide support for external auditor requests related to the divisions.
- Provide support in completion of special projects and other corporate accounting duties.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in Finance / Accounting or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of Experience. Strong knowledge of GAAP, Financial Reporting, and Forecasting.
- Strong financial skills; great attention to detail and demonstrated analytical problem-solving skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills; ability to prioritize work assignments, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet established deadlines while working independently.
Preferred Experience:
- Homebuilding accounting experience.
- Working knowledge of land development budgeting/forecasting and allocations (land bank or self-development).
