(Promotions result in a 5% minimum increase) General Function: Under the supervision of the Irrigation Foreman, the Irrigation Technician installs, maintains, and repairs landscape irrigation systems. This involves the responsibility for the entire system including automatic valves, piping, heads, controllers, filters, and backflow devices; assists with other landscape maintenance duties as required. This involves the responsibility for the entire system including automatic valves, piping, heads, controllers, filters, and backflow devices; assists with other landscape maintenance duties as required. Minimum Educational Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Formal training in landscape management preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Knowledge of equipment repair, maintenance, and safety procedures.
- Knowledge of service, repair, remodel, and new construction of irrigation systems.
- Knowledge of irrigation codes and standards, including IPC plumbing code for subsurface landscape irrigation systems.
- Ability to use construction tools and equipment, including hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of electrical and electronic systems.
- Ability to install and repair piping and fixtures.
- Ability to read blueprints, legends, plot plans, configurations, and charts.
- Knowledge of material safety data sheets (MSDS) preferred.
- Proficient in installing, configuring, managing, and operating Hydropoint WeatherTRAK irrigation control systems, including programming, troubleshooting, and utilizing data analytics for water management optimization.
- Understanding of wireless communication systems and network configurations used in modern irrigation technology. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to WeatherTRAK hardware and software, ensuring optimal performance and water management efficiency.
- Knowledge of codes and regulations relating to backflow testing and cross connections.
- Ability to maintain inventory and property.
- Ability to make budget recommendations.
- Ability to use small, medium, and heavy equipment and machinery.
- Ability to use computers and small office equipment. Job-related Experience:
- Four (4) years of experience relating to the above tasks, knowledge, skills, and abilities or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. Licenses/Certifications:
- Valid driver's license.
