Position Overview:
Are you a teacher or art educator looking for a fun and rewarding summer opportunity? Davis Studio is seeking a passionate, detail-oriented, and creative Program Assistant to support our summer camp art programming.
This position offers the chance to work closely with our Youth Art Program Director and Office Manager to deliver exceptional educational and artistic experiences to children throughout the summer.
As the Summer Camp Program Assistant, you will help bring Davis Studio’s mission to life in the camp environment by providing valuable support to instructors, assisting with camp logistics, and ensuring the smooth operation of our Youth Art Summer Camps.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning, organizing, and execution of camp programs and activities.
- Attend and actively participate in all Youth Art Summer Camp planning & orientation meetings.
- Collaborate with the Youth Art Director to create camp supply bins and distribute art supplies across the studios.
- Provide ongoing guidance, feedback, and support to Summer Camp instructors frequently throughout each camp day.
- Communicate any needs regarding materials, use of the studio spaces, and classroom behavior to the Youth Art Director and Office Manager.
- Coordinate substitutes as needed, with support from the Youth Art Director and Office Manager, and step in as a substitute teacher if necessary.
- Greet and orient campers at drop-off & pick-up times, ensuring a smooth transition for families.
- Maintain a positive and energetic camp atmosphere, fostering a sense of community and teamwork.
- Complete studio tasks and end-of-week checklists as needed to ensure smooth camp operations.
Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of teaching experience and strong classroom management skills.
- Previous experience as a camp counselor or similar camp leadership role is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire staff and campers.
- High energy, positive attitude, and a genuine passion for working with children.
- Ability to connect 1:1 with campers experiencing dysregulation with patience and professionalism.
- Must be able to multi-task, manage projects independently, and stay organized in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary
Pay: From $23.50 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
