What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Director position at Red Clover Camp?
Red Clover Camp is a nature based summer camp for young children ages 5-8 years. We spend our time exploring outdoors, taking field trips throughout northern Vermont, riding bikes, and engaging in art.
We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic, kind, and organized person for the role of Camp Director.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of camp operations, including program development, staff management, and camper safety.
- Develop and implement camp policies and procedures to ensure a safe and enriching environment for all participants.
- Plan and coordinate daily activities, including sports, field trips, arts and crafts, nature exploration, and team-building exercises.
- Train and supervise camp staff members to ensure quality programming and adherence to camp policies.
- Provide guidance and support to staff in their roles as mentors and educators.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding camp activities, policies, and camper progress.
- Maintain accurate records of camper attendance, medical information, and incident reports.
- Collaborate with other camp directors and administrators to share best practices and resources.
- Drive a 14 passenger bus and transport campers for field trips throughout northern Vermont.
Ideal Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education Administration or related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with children or students in a camp or educational setting.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire staff members.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of child development principles and best practices in youth programming.
- Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
- Certified in CPR and First Aid or Wilderness First Aid, as well as Lifeguard certification. If not current in these certifications, training will be provided and will occur before camp starts.
