As the HVAC Lead Instructor, you will spend your day teaching, guiding, and instructing students from all walks of life and support your growing team. Responsible for sharing industry experience and passion in HVAC with the students while working within a team environment. Works collaboratively with other technical training programs to ensure student success and develop strong partnerships with industry partners. A person who treats students equally and can connect positively with students. Working closely with students as they progress through the HVAC program. - Instructs students, reviews prior learning, evaluates performance, guides students throughout the program, and promptly enters accurate student data in the student information system. This includes instructor-lead demonstrations, One-on-one guidance with students, curriculum design, and other requirements.
- Delivers instruction using designated course curriculum and assessments.
- Fosters teamwork, communication and respect.
- Works as a collaborative team member in the School of Construction (electrical apprenticeship and plumbing apprenticeship program).
- Promotes job readiness, encourages professionalism and good work habits, and assists students in seeking and finding employment.
- Works closely with industry partners to meet the needs of industry and to help students find job within the HVAC community.
- Works closely with the accreditation team to meet the standards and requirements of the heating and air conditioning (HVAC) program accreditation standards and requirements, including completion, placement, licensure, membership hours, headcount, certificates awarded, and retention (graduate completers).
- Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly training area by: ensuring there are adequate supplies to support continuous instruction; monitoring responsible use of supplies and equipment; and requesting and maintaining equipment as appropriate.
- Orients new students to classroom facilities, technology, and program/classroom performance and behavior expectations, procedures, and safety.
- Works proactively with Instructional Designers to update training and curriculum.
- Develops work-based learning activities for students, arranging for supervision and evaluation of off-site students, and records and reports progress and completion.
- Coordinates with major industry partners and works with College management to cultivate new industry partnerships.
- Builds and maintains relationships with industry partners, developing and participating in Occupational Advisory Committee(s).
- Advises students regarding appropriate course selection and graduation requirements.
- Addresses and resolves issues affecting student success while working closely with the Director and Student Services team.
- Communicates institutional and program information to other program faculty and program support personnel.
- Participates in professional development opportunities, including training in distance education, if applicable.
- Adheres to assigned program budget.
- Supervise part-time instructors and Classroom Assistants by exhibiting leadership among staff. This may include, but is not limited to timecard verification, hiring, performance ratings, supporting and developing the team and work schedules.
- Works with Director to ensure appropriate classroom coverage.
- Communicates and collaborates with other College divisions and departments to achieve success on projects such as marketing, public relations, grant writing, programmatic, and institutional accreditation.
- May assist in the development and instruction of custom courses.
- Must be a high school graduate with five (5) years experience within the heating and air conditioning (HVAC) industry.
- Must hold EPA 6.08 refrigerant universal handling certification.
- One year of leadership/supervisory experience required.
- Must have teaching/training experience.
- Must have demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and instill industry-related concepts and skills, critical thinking skills, computer skills, and ability to foster a productive learning environment.
- Must be able to deliver instruction in a variety of methods and produce instructional outcomes.
- Must have proven ability to lead, including the ability to act as an advocate for the College in all partnerships.
- Regular attendance is an essential function of the job.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- NATE service certification, ESCO certification, or RMGA certification.
- Prior teaching experience and teaching credentials preferred.
- Position may require the ability to work a flexible schedule including periodic evening or weekend hours.
- May be required to enter or teach at off-campus worksites, if applicable.
