What are the responsibilities and job description for the Industrial Maintenance Specialist - Temporary position at Davis Technical College?
This is a temporary position anticipated to be completed by May 8th.
- Develop and maintain College instructional program equipment inventory, track purchase dates, warranty records, operation manuals, schedule and record preventive maintenance, calibration, and cleaning.
- Provide preventive maintenance, calibration, cleaning, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment and electronics in a timely manner to ensure continuous instruction at all training locations.
- Schedule and oversee equipment maintenance and repairs done by vendors.
- Participate in training conducted by equipment manufacturers to know proper use and maintenance needs.
- Train faculty on proper use and day-to-day maintenance of classroom equipment and electronics.
- Oversee equipment installation and removal in accordance with defined policies and procedures.
- Oversee the continuous improvement of classrooms, instructional lab, and shop facilities.
- Evaluate, recommend, and contribute to the development and justification of equipment and associated infrastructure requirements, instructional facilities, and furniture selection and installation as needed.
- Work with faculty to manage and minimize equipment and material storage, organize storage areas including designated areas located D5, and develop systems for the use of equipment and materials for instruction.
- Participate in the Institutional Image Committee to identify and oversee work required for facility maintenance, safety, and staging of instructional programs.
- Communicate with Facility Services personnel on instructional facility projects and day-to-day maintenance.
- Assist with safety in instructional programs by inspecting shop areas and evaluating safety practices and enforcement, resources such as SDS’s, training, and signage.
- Maintain OSHA records and ensure compliance in each program.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Requires a minimum of an associate’s degree or two years of college-level training, with at least two years’ work experience in troubleshooting and maintaining industrial equipment.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may fulfill these requirements.
- Must have knowledge in the use and maintenance of industrial equipment in two or more of the following areas: manufacturing, automation, transportation, electronics, or medical technology.
- Must be organized and able to work independently to proactively identify and resolve issues in classroom and lab environments.
- Must communicate effectively, verbally, and in writing, and develop effective working relationships.
- Must maintain forklift certification and operate specialized training equipment, including loading trailers, dumping hippo hoppers, copper wiring, etc.
- Requires physical dexterity with ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, and lift weight up to 50 pounds.
- In order to properly diagnose and maintain equipment, must be able to see and hear effectively. Proficiency with Microsoft Office software is required.
- Must successfully complete a criminal background check.
