Tier 2 Support Specialist (1099 Gig Work)
Location : Onsite, Menlo Park, CA
Hours : 2-5 hours per week, hours flexible
Rate : $30 / hr, 1099 (no W2)
Position Overview :
We’re seeking a skilled Tier 2 Support Specialist for a biotechnology office in Menlo Park, CA. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or Green Card holders . The role requires on-site presence in the Menlo Park office, not remote or hybrid. This is a great opportunity for a technical gig worker looking to add a few hours of work to their weekly schedule.
Key Responsibilities :
Serve as the primary escalation point for Tier 1 support issues, ensuring systems are operational and "lights-on."
Troubleshoot and resolve networking issues, including hardware-related challenges such as damaged Ethernet cables.
Provide technical support for both Apple / Mac and Microsoft systems, with a focus on Apple / Mac environments.
Support iPhone users and assist with mobile device troubleshooting as needed.
Manage and maintain IT infrastructure in a minimally staffed office environment.
Perform after-hours or during-hours support, as required, based on operational needs.
Qualifications :
Proven experience as a Tier 2 Support Specialist or equivalent mid-tier IT support role.
Strong networking background, including hardware and cabling knowledge.
Proficiency with Apple / Mac systems; familiarity with Microsoft systems is a plus.
Ability to work independently in a low-support environment with minimal supervision. You’ll work with a support desk for escalated issues.
Excellent troubleshooting skills, particularly for hybrid office setups with minimal staffing.
Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with internal teams and external vendors.
Additional Information :
Start date : Approximately 2 months from now.
This role is expected to be part-time for at least 18 months or longer , with no immediate plans for full-time or extended hours.
On-site presence is required 2-5 hours per week at the Menlo Park office.
Candidates must have flexibility for potential after-hours support.
The role requires a proactive and adaptable approach to evolving needs.
