Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Optician to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional eye care services, assisting patients in selecting eyewear, and ensuring the accurate fitting of lenses. This position requires a blend of technical skills, customer service expertise, and a solid understanding of optical principles.

Duties

  • Assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear based on their needs and preferences.
  • Conduct fittings for eyeglasses and contact lenses, ensuring proper alignment and comfort.
  • Maintain knowledge of current optical products and trends to provide informed recommendations.
  • Perform basic vision tests and record vital signs as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations while handling patient information.
  • Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals to support patient care.
  • Manage inventory of optical products, including ordering and restocking supplies.
  • Provide education to patients regarding lens options, care instructions, and proper usage.
  • Utilize medical terminology effectively when communicating with patients and healthcare providers.
  • Support retail sales efforts by promoting products and services within the optical department.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of physiology related to vision and ocular health.
  • Experience in retail sales or customer service is preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical coding practices is a plus.
  • Understanding of ophthalmology principles and practices is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in optical equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Ability to accurately interpret prescriptions and provide appropriate lens options.
  • Knowledge of vital signs monitoring is an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills are essential for managing patient records and inventory.
  • A commitment to providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.
