What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fire Lieutenant position at Dawson County Government?
The purpose of this classification is to supervise a shift of paid and volunteer staff that is assigned to a station. To respond to emergency calls, providing supervision for emergency responses, assure appropriate documentation is completed for the efficient operation of the company, to provide training and other assigned duties. Base hourly rate is $22.96 for EMT, $24.10 for paramedic, assigned hourly wage will be determined by qualifications and longevity and/or CATT matrix program.
Job Requirements:
Applicant must be at least 18 years of age, possess a GED or high school diploma. Must have a minimum of two (2) years full time experience with Dawson County OR four (4) years full time experience with another career department and/or Dawson County which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for the job. Applicant must hold certifications in:
- Georgia State Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-I or EMT-A) or Paramedic (preferred)
- NPQ FF II
- NPQ Fire Apparatus Operator
- NPQ Fire Apparatus Ladder (preferred)
- Fire Officer I
- Fire Instructor I
- NIMS 100, 200
- NPQ Evaluator (Preferred)
- Basic Certified Emergency Manager (preferred)
The selected candidate must not be on probation or work improvement plan nor have any suspension greater than 72 hours within one year of written test date. The candidate must possess a valid Georgia Driver’s License and maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), successfully pass a Background Check, and Drug Screening.
Testing Process.
This will be a multi-part process to include a written essay, an assessment center which will include a Hot Seat exercise, In-Basket exercise, and Conflict Resolution scenario, and concluding with a Panel Interview and Chief Interview. You will be able to follow along with the CATT matrix program, as you will need to have those classes completed to retain the position.
