SUMMARY
The Field Operations Technician is responsible for providing support in various manual labor tasks to ensure efficient operations. This role requires versatility and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks in different environments, contributing to the overall productivity and safety of the team. CDL is required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Promotes safe working practices, ensuring all safety rules and company policies are followed.
- Assist in various labor tasks including boring, construction and maintenance.
- Operate and maintain tools and equipment such as power tools, hand tools, and machinery.
- Perform general cleaning and organization of work areas.
- Load and unload materials and supplies, ensuring proper handling and storage.
- Assist in the setup and teardown of job sites, including moving equipment and materials as needed.
- Support skilled workers in their tasks, including assisting in installations or repairs.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding project needs and progress.
- Participate in training sessions related to safety and equipment operation.
- Maintain a positive and cooperative attitude towards coworkers and the public.
- Make sure that vehicles and equipment are operated in accordance with rules and regulations.
- Inspect and report to proper authorities all line and equipment irregularities noted in the course of field work.
- Attend necessary training related to tree trimming or any other training required.
- Assist tree crew if necessary.
- Attend monthly safety meetings and other meetings as necessary.
- Perform other duties as necessary and assigned.
EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS
Consumers – The employee must provide efficient, helpful, and courteous service, resulting in good consumer relations.
General Public – The employee must maintain friendly, cooperative relationships with the general public in the performance of these responsibilities so that the image of the District will be a favorable one.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position normally has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Prefer experience working on boring crew
- Knowledge and experience using herbicides preferred
- Familiar with the District’s geography and terrain
LANGUAGE AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
This position requires the employee to have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. The employee must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. He/she must also have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
COMPUTER SKILLS
This position requires the ability to use office machines such as computers, iPads, printers, copiers, and calculators. The employee must have a working knowledge of basic computer programs, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook). This position also requires the use of industry-specific programs and devices, for which training will be provided.
REASONING ABILITY
The employee must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. He/she must also have the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
A valid Nebraska commercial driver’s license (CDL) is required.

The Field Operations Technician must be able to use all five senses for reasonable purposes to accomplish his/her job responsibilities. This position requires bending, sitting, standing, walking, climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, stooping, crawling, pulling, and pushing. While performing the duties of this job, he/she is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. He/she is required to frequently reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

For purposes of field contacts, this position is exposed to harsh weather elements such as sun, wind, snow, wind-chill factors, rain, and ice. He/she may be exposed to various animals such as dogs, cats, cows, horses, and pigs due to the job responsibilities. Periodic extensive driving may be required. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but can vary depending on the specific work responsibility. Hearing protection must be used when decibel exposure exceeds 90 dB during any two to four hour period. Hard hat and safety glasses will be required under certain conditions.
Night, weekend, and holiday work is required when necessary.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $29.00 - $33.00 per hour
