Dawson, a K-12 independent school of 505 students located east of Boulder on a beautiful 112-acre campus seeks an exceptional Assistant to the Camp Director to assist the Summer Camp Director. This position plays a role in helping in the overall management of the summer camp of approximately 365 weekly campers and 60 staff members by assisting in the day-to-day operations of camp, supervising staff, coordinating camp schedules, and assisting with administrative work. The person in this role must be kind, patient, caring, and love working with kids.
The Assistant to the Camp Director works Sunday - Friday, starting on May 15, 2025 through August 1, 2025.

Required / Minimum Qualifications
At least four years of college or post-high school work experience, preferably at least one year of experience within a childcare program or camp
- Must have a current First Aid/CPR certification, or be able to attend the class provided by Dawson prior to camp starting
- Must be willing to obtain any other certification and/or training sessions as required by the state
- Experience working with children; including the developmental needs of children
- Experience with group and behavior management
- Experience with problem solving and conflict resolution
- Proficient with computer software including email, calendar, google suite, and spreadsheets.
- Absolute integrity, discretion, and confidentiality
- Able to regularly lift and/or move equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work when exposed to wet, humid, and hot/very hot conditions
- Available for the entire duration of the summer program
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with a Colorado Department of Early Childhood (CDEC) program with knowledge of Licensing rules and regulations- Experience with Colorado Shines Professional Development Information System (PDIS)
- Experience with CampBrain registration system
- Supervisory experience
- Drivers License in good standing

Duties/Responsibilities
Assist the Summer Camp Director in helping in the overall management of the camp- Support the Summer Camp Director in carrying out staff orientation and staff training
- Explain and enforce the policies, traditions, and rules of camp
- Manage interpersonal and operational conflicts amongst campers
- Assume responsibility of the safety and well-being of the campers
- Coordinate with the Camp Director in matters that are of mutual responsibility
- Address stressful situations appropriately in a fast-paced, interactive environment
- Strive to work in a cooperative manner with fellow staff to achieve goals of the program
- Invest time with campers and staff to meet their needs and serve as a role model during their time at camp
- Assume responsibility for the use and care of camp equipment and facilities
- Participate in the pre-camp training, attend staff meetings, and contribute to coordinating program staff
- Respect the confidential nature of all information pertaining to staff, volunteers, and campers
- Assist in supervising campers at meals and all-camp activities
- Collaborate with the Summer Camp Director and the Security team with decisions and communication on safety issues (i.e. lightning protocol). Always adhere to all safety and security procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned to foster a cooperative climate and a smoothly operating camp
- Present a positive image to campers, staff, parents, and visitors through attitude, dress, and courtesy
The salary range for this full-time,non-exempt position is $1,300.00 to $1,600.00 per week. Compensation is commensurate with experience and relevant skills. This is a temporary position and is not eligible for benefits. Lunch is provided daily.
