GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Enthusiastic Food Service Professional whose greatest passion is to see kids learn and grow. This position assist in preparing meals and with daily cleaning in the kitchen and dining area.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent education.
- Submit to various background checks including those completed through the Child-Care Licensing including Criminal Background, Central Registry and FBI Fingerprint Check (no convictions for any felony offenses, misdemeanor offenses classified against person or family, public indecency, or the Texas Controlled Substance Act.)
- Must pass drug screen
- Possess a strong work ethic, be punctual, and have minimal absences.
- Be available for full time employment
- Have dependable transportation
REQUIRED EXPECTATIONS

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR
- Food Service Professional are under the supervision and reports to the Center Director.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Including, but not limited to, the following:

Complies with operating requirements of the Day Nursery of Abilene
- Adheres to all Day Nursery of Abilene policies, procedures, and regulatory standards, as well as all Health
Department standards as stated in Minimum Standards for Child Care, Child Care Program
Operations/Texas Rising Star Criteria, and the Child Care and Adult Food Program requirements, including maintaining all necessary documentation.
- Adheres to all Day Nursery of Abilene personnel and other related policies, procedures, regulatory and quality child care rating standards.
- Reports to work on time, assures attendance and observes break and lunch periods appropriately.
- Utilizes leave responsibly in accordance with established procedures.
- Displays workplace behaviors that maintain a functional and productive environment.
- Models professionalism by appropriate dress and language.
- Works within a teamwork concept to promote the mission and goals of the Day Nursery.
Measurable position outcomes
- Coordinates and immediately communicates with other food service staff to ensure the smooth operation of food services and child care program.
- Prepares food carts with food, milk, plates, cups, etc. according to number of children in class by appropriate tables for the children/class being served.
- Requisitions appropriate amounts of food and food preparation supplies as established by menus, supervisor and program and follows proper procedures as related to purchase order system.
- Makes weekly trips to the Food Bank and stores according to an established schedule or as necessary and approved by supervisor.

- Adheres to all Child and Adult Food Program guidelines including required daily documentation.
- Inventories food and cleaning supplies on at least a monthly basis.
- Ensures safe preparation and storage of all raw and prepared food items.
- Maintains sanitized cleanliness of kitchen, kitchen equipment and eating areas.
- Participates in menu planning and implementation of new requirements.
- Attends CACFP and other related food service training as required including annual meeting at the Food
Bank.
- Assures fiscal responsibility and management of resources of time, supplies, and equipment.
- Performs other duties related to the Day Nursery as assigned by the supervisor.
Training and Professional Development
- Participates in required professional development on at least a quarterly basis
- Demonstrates interest in improving performance and bettering the Day Nursery of Abilene program
