Equipment Maintenance Specialist

About the Role:

Daybreak Foods is seeking a skilled Maintenance Tech to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth functioning of our equipment and facilities.

Main Responsibilities:

• Inspect, operate and test machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and implement repairs during non-production and production times.
\
• Dismantle machines, equipment or devices to access and remove defective parts for maintenance and repair purposes.
\
• Maintain food processing equipment to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
\
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment, including inspecting motors, bearings, belts, fluid levels, and replacing filters.
\
• Carry out general maintenance tasks such as plumbing, electrical wiring, installation of new equipment and parts.
\
• Document all maintenance performed, including preventative maintenance, to ensure accurate record-keeping.
\
• Identify required parts needed and notify supervisor to facilitate timely replacements.
\
• Notify facility supervisors when maintenance or repairs are to be undertaken in any food handling area to maintain hygiene and sanitation standards.

• Remove all tools and debris from maintenance activities once completed, ensuring a clean and safe work environment.

Requirements:

• A minimum of high school diploma.
\
• Maintenance certification or equivalent experience.
\
• Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR certification.
\
• Previous experience in maintenance is required, with experience in Food Manufacturing or Processing being highly desirable.
\
• Familiarity with safety programs and processes such as Confined Space, LOTO, Hazcom, Hot Work, Electrical Safety, etc.

• Strong knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

• Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.
\
• Determination to resolve complex problems and develop effective solutions.

• Strong knowledge of Pneumatics and Power Transmission.

Working Conditions:

\

The successful candidate will frequently be exposed to moving mechanical parts, water, and chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate. Proper personal protective equipment will be required during certain working conditions. Employees must comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) due to working in a food manufacturing environment.
