Program Director for After-school Academic Program Position OverviewThe Dayspring After-School Program Director will oversee 5-25 elementary and middle school students, with the potential to support high school students requiring academic assistance. This role involves providing a safe, well-supervised, and engaging program while facilitating Science, Math, Research, Art, and Technology lessons. The Program Director will foster positive relationships and support participants' holistic development by leading a team of professionals, college students, and high school assistants to deliver high-quality educational programming.Projected Start Date : January 2025Projected End Date : May 29, 2025Primary ResponsibilitiesProgram Development & Implementation (45%)Collaborate with the Executive Director to ensure strong attendance and community support.Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all youth.Design and deliver lessons aligned with the academic and social-emotional needs of students.Develop a mentor guide aligned with program goals.Guide students and facilitators in building positive relationships.Incorporate partnership field trips and virtual learning opportunities into lessons.Integrate lessons across Science, Math, Research, Art, and Technology (S.M.A.R.T.).Plan and implement joyful, age-appropriate lessons and activities.Supervise facilitators, volunteers, college students, and high school students.Support behavior expectations and problem-solving.Program Logistics (25%)Act as a substitute facilitator when necessary.Address potential issues with positive behavior management techniques.Complete time cards, incident reports, receipts, and related documentation.Ensure cleanliness of learning areas and support snack / meal preparation.Evaluate daily lessons to identify and address improvement areas.Hold regular meetings with staff to discuss lesson plans, updates, and action steps.Maintain accurate student attendance and oversee data management.Maintain organized records and manage program resources.Family and Staff Communication (20%)Develop and lead parent / caregiver orientations and family events.Identify and address student needs in collaboration with the Executive Director.Maintain open communication with students, staff, parents, and school administration.Provide homework assistance and academic support when needed.Send weekly newsletters with updates and announcements.Job QualificationsRequired QualificationsEducation and Experience : Bachelor’s Degree required.At least 2 years of experience working with youth in a classroom, after-school, or recreation environment.Leadership Skills : Proven ability to manage groups of up to 25 children effectively.Strong leadership in fostering structured, engaging environments.Creativity and Innovation : Ability to tailor lessons to diverse learning styles.Experience in lesson planning and implementation to inspire student engagement.Technical Proficiency : Familiarity with integrating tech tools into educational environments.Proficient in using technology for lesson planning and student engagement.Academic Skills : Competence in K-12 Math, Reading, Science, and English.Other Requirements : Must pass a criminal background check.Preferred QualificationsCertification or additional training in youth development.Experience in curriculum design or program development.Familiarity with social-emotional learning frameworks.Work HoursHours : Monday-Thursday : 2 : 30 PM - 6 : 30 PMFridays : 2-hour hybrid planning workSalary / Hr.
