General Description: The Part-Time/As-Needed ESOL instructor will provide instructional activities which are consistent with the objectives of the Aspire program and the MVCTC in general including but not limited to:
- Conduct orientation and administer standardized assessments
- Instruct assigned ESOL classes
- Provide all students with a safe and appropriate learning environment. Offer classroom accommodations to students as needed and/or appropriate
- Utilize appropriate ESOL curriculum using a variety of materials and teaching techniques to enhance student learning and outcomes, and to maintain student interest
- Incorporate citizenship training into the ESOL curriculum as appropriate
- Incorporate the use of technology into the curriculum and classroom instruction as appropriate
- Work collaboratively with other ESOL instructors (both daytime and evening) to combine classes and/or team-teach as appropriate/needed
- Maintain cooperative relationships and open communication with all staff and students. Keep coordinator informed of all pertinent information
- Attend and participate in ESOL staff department meetings and required professional development
- Assist with the recruitment of new students, and public relations efforts for the program
- Must hold an Associate’s Degree or equivalent
- Adult Education teaching experience preferred
- Must possess an interest in teaching adults
- Possess good knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment used in ESOL instruction
- Ability to plan and implement lessons based on program and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned
- Ability to move about in classroom/lab to check student work and monitor behavior
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students and peers
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Possess excellent human relations skills and serve as a role model for students
Length of Contract: Part-Time/As Needed
Salary: $29 per hour
