Job Details:
The Director has authority, responsibility and accountability for the operations of the Emergency Departments. The director works collaboratively with the chief and associate chief for the emergency departments, key physicians, and other disciplines to assure comprehensive care. Participates as a member of the Nursing Leadership team to support the framework for planning, directing, coordinating, improving, and implementing nursing services that are responsive to the community and pediatric patients. Takes administrative call with the other clinical directors for the organization. Supports shared leadership and all quality and safety initiatives. Participates in the formulation of policies and processes and is active in information management which is focused on enhancing patient outcomes. Supports continued innovative leadership with proactive expense management strategies while maintaining resource allocation to promote our value of safety. Provides leadership and direction to the staff in support of the mission, vision of the hospital and supports the nursing strategic plan through quality management, responsive patient experience and fiscal management.Education
Bachelor’s degree in nursing or higher is required
Master’s Degree is required
Master’s degree in nursing or other healthcare-related field is preferred
Experience
5 years of progressive leadership responsibilities required.
Strong written and oral communication skills required
Ability to facilitate and lead multi-disciplinary teams and community members towards shared goals required
Certification/License
RN licensure in State of Ohio required
Professional certification within 3 years of hire required
ANCC or AONL-approved specialty certification preferred
Department Specific Job Details:
The Director Nursing, Emergency Department will be responsible for the management of patient care services to ensure that operations will support the delivery of clinical patient care on a continuous basis. This individual will support strategic planning by analyzing relevant historical data, current community and national trends and to develop a departmental strategic plan. This leader will also be responsible for the fiscal management of operational and capital budgets for two cost centers and to meet the financial objectives with focus on expense management. This role will also focus on safety and quality and develop, implement and monitor key quality indicators to ensure the safety of patients, families and staff. This person will also establish and communicate action plans for patient experience goal attainment.
