The Dayton Metro Library is seeking a full-time Accounting Manager to join our Finance team! This position reports to our Fiscal Officer/Finance Director and works at the Main Library in downtown Dayton. The successful candidate will have experience with accounting practices and purchasing protocols, preferably in a public institution. Essential Job Duties
- Maintains financial records according to state auditing requirements. Prepares monthly financial statements for the Board of Trustees. Prepares annual report for the public and prepares financial statements for the annual audit.
- Oversees and directs payroll processing and accounts payable processing.
- Directly supervises and schedules accounting clerks. Serves as a liaison between the accounting clerks and the Fiscal Officer/Finance Director.
- Assists with maintaining current data on the financial condition of the Library. Provides data and assists with preparation of the annual budget and appropriations document.
- Assists with developing and maintaining a system of internal accounting controls.
- Audits personnel changes prior to biweekly payroll process. Prepares payroll spreadsheets and reports as needed for monitoring and budgeting purposes.
- Assists with receiving and depositing of all library funds in an authorized depository and investing funds to maximize interest earnings.
- Files and pays monthly, quarterly and annual payroll taxes and associated reports accurately and in a timely fashion.
- Regularly inspects bank balances with each batch of checks processed to ensure adequate funds are available.
- Files government reports, such as sales tax returns, employee census, 1099s, Ohio withholding taxes, Ohio Worker’s Compensation and ensures W-9 compliance.
Job Qualifications
- Knowledge of fund and cash basis accounting principles and financial record keeping requirements.
- Knowledge of payroll, accounts payable, and fixed asset procedures.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in business administration-preferably with a major in finance or accounting; and two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Ability to use accounting system, payroll software, e-mail, Microsoft Excel, and word processing software. Ability to maintain complex clerical records and prepare reports from the records.
Compensation and Benefits: Salary is negotiable starting at $65,627 annually. Benefits include health, dental and vision insurance along with paid time off and OPERS retirement.
