The Purchasing Associate will be responsible for researching, identifying, and comparing current and prospective suppliers, determining purchase needs, preparing and processing purchase orders, scheduling and verifying purchase deliveries, managing inventories, releasing/managing job orders for production related to outside processes, meeting department and individual KPIs, inventory reductions, and cost savings.
Job Functions:
- Ensure that purchase orders are processed and managed based on established policies and procedures.
- Ensure that capacity and inventory are considered in establishing the manufacturing plan.
- Develop and implement a schedule that aligns with the material plan.
- Conduct inventory and capacity reviews and submit changes to the master scheduler.
- Ensure timely management of customer change requests.
- Manage and update the ERP system to smooth the ordering schedule.
- Manage effectively dates in the ERP system for ramp up/ramp down of material in support of activities.
- Interface with Manufacturing and Sales per procedures when customer ship date is at risk.
- Interface with shipping department to ensure customer on-time delivery.
- Develop, track and report agreed upon KPIs.
- Manage material planning parameters for all procured and fabricated products.
- Expedite material as needed.
- Run reports daily to identify late material and if due date needs adjusted.
- Ensure business plan objectives and customer needs are met on-time, while considering supplier lead times,
- Coordinate production activities related to product phase out and obsolescence
- Coordinate production activities related to new product introductions
- Support shop floor operations by releasing and managing job orders related to outside processes
- Coordinate customer order expedites with Sales Team and shop floor operations
- Engage with suppliers to review business performance, address any issues, and discuss areas of concern
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Procurement Manager
- ERP and MRP experience required and strong computer skills to include Excel, Word and Power Point
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, complete tasks, and function well in a fast-paced environment

- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, supply chain management, inventory control
- and other techniques
- Minimal Travel Required – Overnight stays may be necessary for trips exceeding a 150-mile radius
- High school diploma or GED required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 3 – 5 years of materials planning and/or purchasing experience in manufacturing environment
