Position: Student Success Coach
Reports To: Chief Academic Officer
Salary Schedule / Grade: Refer to Administrative Salary Schedule
F.L.S.A Status: Exempt
SUMMARY
Student Success Coaches will provide a holistic approach to building positive relationships with students and supporting them socially, emotionally and academically throughout the school year to ensure they meet the attendance expectations set by Dayton Public Schools, laws, and regulations. Success Coaches partner with students, faculty, and staff to support students as they transition to and through high school. They connect students to resources and collaborate with district partners to ensure every student has the tools to reach their goals.
Performs all functions in accordance with established policies, procedures, safety and environmental regulations, facility and computer security policies and procedures. Functions are subject to change from time to time to meet the needs of the organization. Current essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Functions are subject to change from time to time to meet the needs of the organization. Current essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Ensure that all required documentation, policies, and systems for effective record-keeping are in place for data collection.
- Contact families of the students with attendance concerns.
- Participate in conferences with students, family, and school staff.
- Conduct investigation on students who have continued absences.
- Create and administer attendance letters to the families with students who have attendance issues.
- Assess barriers and make youth and family referrals as needed.
- Participate in weekly leadership meetings to discuss the attendance data.
- Create action plans and next steps for attendance issues.
- Provide written reports and data spreadsheets to the school-based and district-level teams.
- Develop data collection procedures and a baseline for measuring outcomes related to all participating students’ attendance.
- Facilitate Professional Development opportunities for staff
- Support family engagement activities
- Make home visits during and/or after school hours.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution or higher
- Experience working within urban education
- Must have a credential through the Ohio Department of Education
- Effective time management skills
PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES/DEMANDS
- Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, kneel, stoop, and climb stairs
- Occasionally lift and/or move lightweight items up to 40 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Work is performed in a general school setting
- Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue
- Work may be subject to frequent interruptions
- Periodic travel for meetings, professional development activities, and work assignments
