Job Title: Guest Services Associate (Monday-Friday)

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly – $12/hr
Summary
The Guest Services Associate is responsible for maintaining an environment that is welcoming, upbeat, and comfortable for all guests of the Dayton Society of Natural History (DSNH) including the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery and SunWatch Village.
The Guest Services Associate will ensure guest satisfaction, membership promotion efforts, and efficient cash-handling procedures. They will also demonstrate a mastery of all DSNH-approved cash handling and retail procedures, and effectively and efficiently operate admissions, gift shop, café, and telephone operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Ensure that all visitors are professional welcomed with information to make certain that they can fully enjoy the Boonshoft Museum and SunWatch.
Monitor Guests Behavior
Provide an outstanding model of customer service standards for all employees and volunteers to follow, and present a friendly, welcoming, and professional image to visitors.
Execute duties, including selling general admissions, maintaining the admissions area, selling gift shop merchandise, preparing and serving food in the café, thoroughly understanding the point-of-sale system, and all responsibilities associated with customer experience at both sites.
Be proficient with the proper procedures for entering admissions/retail/food information into the cash register.
Be familiar with DSNH policies and operations, and relay inquiries and information to appropriate staff.
Utilize proactive sales techniques, including the promotion of membership sales.
Record member and guest information in permanent records.
Assist in the gift shop, including applying proper pricing labels and restocking shelves as directed.
Perform opening and closing procedures, including locking and unlocking front doors, making closing announcements using a PA system, and preparing guest service areas for the next day.
Assist as needed for special events and private rentals.
