What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Technician position at DBI SERVICES?
The position is responsible to perform general maintenance of the highway maintenance project assigned as a Lead, with assignments including but not limited to:
- Review Maintenance Technician crew reports
- Assist Maintenance technicians in the dissemination of training information
- Provide and assist with detecting performance deficiencies of operators
- Monitor safety and make recommendations regarding needed changes and improvements of field operations while working within the guidelines and directives set forth by the FHWA Field Operation Guide and company contract
- Assist with the interview, hiring, and training process and documentation
- Maintains highways and adjacent properties by eliminating pests that occur in right-of-way areas.
- Oversee crew
- Ensures that Technicians attend daily safety meetings and reviews crew sheets for accuracy.
- Load and remove materials from truck and equipment maintenance
- Production report and work complete form
- Complying with all OSHA, DOT and DBi Services Safety Policies
- Experience with Traffic control plan and placing MOT devices along with guardrail installation
- Applies various types of herbicides on right-of-way areas
- Uses proper chemical control measures to prevent accidents, injuries, or illnesses.
- Prevents pesticide and herbicide runoff and drift prevention.
- Performs actions necessary to prevent excessive foliage and destruction of right–of-way areas or equipment by unwanted foliage.
- Complete all Spray logs and safety forms daily and accurately
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 18 years of age
- Valid Driver's License
- Reliable Transportation to and from Company Office
- CDL preferred but not required
- Ability to lift 60 lbs.
- Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently/Bi-lingual preferred, but not necessary
- Most be able to travel throughout the area, with overnight requirements as business needs require
- 1 year experience in road maintenance or equivalent supervisory experience preferred
- 1 year plus demonstrated Roadside Herbicide application skills preferred
- Previous supervisory experience preferred
- MOT training/certification preferred but not required
- Willingness and ability to perform manual work following verbal and written instructions
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to use a computer/I pad and or I Phone to prepare reports and communicate through Email
- Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, customers and employees
- Must be able to work independently; demonstrated ability in working with construction tools, equipment and vehicles properly and safely
EDUCATION OR TRAINING:
- Preferred Commercial Applicator License in Right of Way, Aquatic and Natural Areas From Florida Dept of Agriculture
- Preferred certification in FDOT Work Zone Safety
- High School Graduate or Equivalent
- Company Safety Training
- Ability to measure liquid and Granular Herbicides
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to carry equipment to and from assigned areas as well as use the equipment in performance of job
WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position works in a variety of work environments including outdoors in all types of weather as well as directly on and near busy highways.
