What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shop Mechanic position at DBI SERVICES?
BASIC PURPOSE: The mechanic position is responsible for performing repairs, mechanical build and repairs, shop safety, maintenance of vehicles and equipment under the direction of the Shop Manager. Note: This position requires national travel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Prioritize and work on projects needing immediate attention
- Perform repairs and assemble mechanical components as directed
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as directed
- Perform oil changes, tire rotations, and belt changes of company vehicles
- Check and repair air conditioning, computer, and electronic systems
- Repair exhaust, brakes, hydraulic, electrical suspension, and fuel ignition of vehicles and equipment
- Heavy equipment, agricultural and commercial vehicle repairs
- Inspecting machines, engines, transmissions, etc. and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues
- Assist in the fabrication of new equipment and new builds as directed
- Perform maintenance and or repairs on miscellaneous equipment
- Properly test equipment after repairs
- May assist in purchasing parts as needed to complete repairs in a cost-effective manner
- May assist with reordering of parts efficiently for restocking and warranty purposes
- Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components
- Replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery
- Keep logs of work and report on issues
- Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to machine or vehicle users
- Use and maintain shop tools in a proper manner
- Operate equipment, vehicle and tools properly and safely
- Maintain a clean and safe environment
- Drives company vehicles
- Other duties as assigned
