About The Role
The Manager, Special Initiatives position within the School Performance Department (SPD) serves as a right-hand strategic partner to the Chief School Performance Officer (CSPO).
This role is critical in advancing SPD’s priorities, leading and encouraging effective collaboration, coordination, and communication across the department and organization as teams work to fulfill DC PCSB’s Strategic Roadmap and other critical school oversight activities. This role requires a highly organized, proactive, and strategic thinker who can manage complex projects and foster cross-functional collaboration.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with prior experience in a similar role. DC PCSB offers a comprehensive benefits plan covering 100% of the employee’s insurance premium. About The Role

Core Responsibilities
- Support Recurring Cross-Team and Cross-Department Projects
- Support DC PCSB public meetings (which occur at least once a month), by tracking, consolidating, and summarizing meeting materials. Board meeting attendance will be required on occasion
- Coordinate and support Effective Organization Meetings with public charter school leaders, collaborating with staff across the organization to create invitation letters, strategic talking points, and concise yet thorough follow-up letters
- Manage School Stat, a quarterly exchange of information and intervention planning focused on DC public charter schools, that requires preparation and engagement from staff throughout DC PCSB
- Engage in and prepare for weekly SPD Leadership meetings, collaborating with department leaders in an effort ensure cross-team coordination and alignment
- Conduct Strategic Roadmap planning and monitoring for SPD
- Monitor SPD annual work schedule and cycles, elevating roadblocks and risks to the CSPO and SPD Leadership
- Work closely with the Chief of Staff and a group of project managers to share best practices and elevate cross-department collaboration opportunities, challenges, and needs
- Manage SPD-Initiated, Cross-Department Change Projects
- Serve as the initial point of contact for all inter-department and intra-department work with SPD, working closely with the CSPO and SPD staff to create MOCHAs for the work
- Launch and manage new cross-department policy, process, or system projects initiated by SPD. Some projects will likely span 6 – 18 months during the initiation and launch phases before moving into a recurring cycle and ownership by an SPD team
- Build expertise in and serve as a Liberatory Design champion within the department, supporting project teams and SPD in designing equitable policies, processes, and programming
- General Department Planning in Support of the Chief School Performance Officer
- Prepare SPD-wide or external communications designed to include multiple perspectives
- Support the CSPO in planning, executing, and tracking progress of department OKRs, annual priorities, strategy, and plans across the department
- Schedule medium- to large-scale internal and external gatherings with some degree of complexity
- Support the CSPO to triage and follow through on emerging department and organization needs
- When urgent needs arise, support the CSPO by working with SPD Leadership to reprioritize and manage SPD resources to ensure those needs are met and balanced against recurring SPD work
- Other duties as assigned

- You create clear and attainable project objectives, build project requirements, and manage the constraints of the project including but not limited to cost, time, scope, and quality. You assist in defining project scope and goals, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
- You quickly grasp the subtleties of complex issues and identify patterns in challenges. You are a problem-solver, using your strong analytical skills to navigate complex issues
- You are an excellent verbal and written communicator. You produce detailed, accurate, and relevant notes from internal and external meetings. You synthesize large amounts of information into digestible chunks, communicating the appropriate level of detail for a given audience and circumstance.

- You have a degree and school-based experience
