Role Description:

The Procurement-Materials Management Intern will support the materials management team by assisting in reviewing and updating stock levels of various items based on usage history. The intern will also evaluate the usage patterns to identify items that can be discontinued from storage. Additionally, the intern will work on documenting day-to-day work processes and creating job guides to help streamline operations within the department. This role offers hands-on experience in materials management, inventory control, and process improvement.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

As a summer Intern, we will provide you with:  

  • A real-world experience on exciting projects 
  • Connections with recent college graduates and our company leaders  
  • Performance of assignments under the direct supervision of a department lead 
  • Performance of other work-related duties as needed 

 

Your essential functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in reviewing and updating stock levels for all items based on usage data from the past 12 to 18 months.
  • Analyze usage patterns to identify items that are underutilized or no longer needed, helping to determine which items should be discontinued from storage.
  • Help document day-to-day materials management processes and create job guides that will be used by the department moving forward.
  • Use data analysis to support inventory decisions, helping to optimize stock levels and reduce waste.
  • Work with the materials management team to ensure inventory is maintained efficiently and meets operational needs.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Required Experience:
Experience in supply chain management or inventory management.
Experience with data analysis, specifically in analyzing trends and making data-driven decisions.
Minimum Education Requirements:
Must be currently enrolled fulltime in an undergraduate or graduate program  
Must have at least 30 credit hours complete  
Must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average 
Required Skills:
Strong data analysis skills to assess inventory usage and make informed decisions.
Ability to work independently and self-pace while managing tasks and priorities

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

Preferred Experience:
Familiarity with a manufacturing environment and understanding of inventory practices within such settings.
Warehouse experience, including knowledge of inventory tracking and management.
 
Preferred Education Requirements:
Preferred Majors: Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration.
Preferred Skills:
Advanced Excel skills for managing inventory data, creating reports, and analyzing trends.
Familiarity with an ERP software system to assist with inventory management and data tracking.
