Colonial Gardens, located in Blue Springs, MO, was added to our brand family in 2016. Founded in 1969, renovations began in 2017 to create an agritourism destination. It is the garden center, reimagined! We offer a greenhouse, nursery, café and coffee shop, event space, and farmer’s market. It’s where plants, food and farms connect. Educational classes promoting local agriculture and sustainability as well as private events are also offered.

We are searching for an individual that is passionate about plants and the environment to be our Greenhouse Annuals Crew Leader. The Greenhouse Annuals Crew Leader will be responsible for establishing consistent and proven processes to maximize efficiency, managing staff effectiveness, productivity, exemplary customer service, and maintaining quality and inventory levels of plant material to maximize sales.

Key Responsibilities:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must have the ability to work in a fast paced and physical team environment
• Must have good attention to detail and awareness of everything in the department, economics, and profitability.
• Must have excellent customer service & communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task and work very efficiently, and drives sense of urgency when necessary
• Understand that every positive thing we do, as a company, as a department or as an individual can make positive impression upon the customer, enhance the customer experience, which also lends value to us, our company, and our products, resulting in returning customers, a happy work and customer environment, and business success
• Must have good plant care knowledge of annuals, herbs and vegetables, and decent knowledge of tropical plants.
• Be open to new endeavors of the department/business, and/or suggest entrepreneurial ideas to drive more business and possible revenue streams within or outside of the department

Minimum Qualifications:

• Required: High School Diploma or GED completed or in Progress
• Preferred: AS/BS in horticulture, or Agriculture
• Highly Preferred: Garden Center industry experience is preferred, but not mandatory, although a passion for plants and our environment is necessary
• Required: Must be available to work at least one weekend day throughout most of the year, and full weekends during peak seasons as well as overtime hours
