Position Summary
We are seeking an Analyst to join our Strategy & Corporate Development team to support the development of inorganic growth strategies through mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures (collectively "M&A"). In this role, you will play a key part in shaping our strategic direction as we expand into new energy sectors and markets across North America while also driving efficiencies through our existing operations.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify market opportunities, evaluate strategic initiatives, and develop actionable business plans that align with our growth objectives. Your responsibilities will include supporting target identification, developing financial models and presentation materials, and assisting in end-to-end transaction execution including due diligence management and post-acquisition integration and value creation planning. In addition to M&A activities, you will contribute to organic growth initiatives and business performance improvement projects, providing analytical and problem-solving support to advance company goals. This role will have frequent interaction and exposure to DCC's leadership teams in Lisle, Illinois and Dublin, Ireland
Core Duties/Key Responsibilities
- Research - Perform proprietary research and leverage secondary research to assist with the sourcing of potential acquisition targets within DCC's prioritized geographies. Monitor the marketplace, industry, and macroeconomic environment to identify and assess key trends that can inform strategy and operational plans. Evaluate competitive opportunities and threats.
- Analysis - Conduct efficient and thorough analyses including identifying potential benefits, risks, and overall alignment with DCC's strategy to support the evaluation of M&A and other strategic opportunities, ensuring quality of deliverables to drive outcomes.
- Financial Modeling - Build and maintain financial and valuation models and other detailed financial/quantitative analyses.
- Presentation - Draft executive presentation materials, including acquisition proposal documents and business cases related to other strategic activities.
- Due Diligence & Recordkeeping - Support cross-functional due diligence processes, including those for real property transactions and greenfield opportunities.
- Strategic Planning - Play an active role in driving DCC's annual strategic planning processes by evaluating economic trends and providing energy industry analysis to advance the energy transition for our organization and customers.
- Real Asset Management - Support real asset management practices and processes including land acquisition, land divestment, lease negotiation, permitting and zoning.
May perform other duties as reasonably assigned.
Position Qualifications
Experience/Education
Required Education: Bachelor's/Undergraduate Degree
Fields of Study Preferred: Business, Finance, Mathematics, Economics
Required Work Experience:
- 2 years of proven work experience in an analytical environment, including but not limited to investment banking, corporate finance, corporate development, or consulting.
- A strong financial background is required. Financial modeling experience is a plus.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Microsoft Applications: Extremely proficient (in particular, Excel and PowerPoint)
Additional Technology: High technical capabilities with ability to quickly learn and utilize new technologies
Travel: Ability to travel up to 20%
Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills required; skilled at drafting and delivering presentations for all levels of the organization; including acquisition proposal documents

- Develop relationships and work effectively with internal team members, external resources and counsel, potential acquisition targets, advisors, and other professionals within the DCC group of companies
- Unquestioned integrity and ability to properly manage confidential processes and information
- Ability to think through hypothetical situations and concepts and identify, substantiate, and describe strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and risks
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Highly literate in fundamental finance and accounting concepts
- Experience working in the M&A lifecycle and delivering on short deadlines
- Ability to organize and process large amounts of data from multiple sources
