The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is the official national Democratic campaign committee charged with electing Democrats to the U. S. House of Representatives. The DCCC recruits Democratic candidates and supports Democratic campaigns – both challengers and Democratic incumbent Members – with a variety of services including field operations, fundraising support, communications assistance, digital strategy, research support and management consulting. The DCCC is supported by the contributions of individuals and organizations, along with Democratic Members, from throughout the country. Position Summary:

The Special Assistant to the Chair is a member of the Executive team at the DCCC. They will assist with the day-to-day operations of the Chair of the DCCC, including staffing and traveling with the Chair on all DCCC-related business, serving as liaison with DCCC staff, and ensuring the details and logistics of her movements are managed. This role is essential to ensuring communication between the Chair, DCCC staff, House Democratic Caucus Members, and other stakeholders. Hours may be long and include nights and weekends, including significant travel.


Responsibilities Include: 

  • Staffing the Chair at events in Washington, DC;
  • Traveling with the Chair on all DCCC-related travel;
  • Driving the Chair; 
  • Working closely with the Chair’s scheduling team to execute the daily schedule;
  • Staying up to date on memos for all DCCC events and meetings, and working with Scheduler to coordinate daily event memos for the Chair;
  • Managing communication flow from the Chair/Committee to Members of Congress and relevant stakeholders;
  • Producing clear and concise written summaries of Chair’s meetings and key conversations for DCCC staff;
  • Perform other duties as needed to ensure the success of the Executive team.

 Skills and Qualifications: 

  • A valid driver’s license and safe driving record required (NOTE: your own vehicle is not required);
  • Strong knowledge of the House and its Members;
  • Experience staffing an elected official is strongly preferred;
  • Schedule flexibility required due to frequent travel for this position;
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to practice discretion;
  • Strong political judgment and problem-solving abilities;
  • Familiarity with Democratic political actors and landscape;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and written and oral communication;
  • Clear and concise writing style;
  • Superior time management, attention to detail, and multi-tasking abilities;
  • Excellent people skills, with an ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team and collaborate with many strategic partners; 
  • Commitment to electing Democrats and reclaiming the House majority;

Annual Salary: $70,000
