Assistant to the Chair
The Assistant to the Chair will support the Chair of the DSCC in their DSCC-related activities. They will work cross-departmentally to serve as the hub for all Chair scheduling, logistics, and operations within the DSCC. The Assistant will be a member of the Finance team and report to the Senate Services Director and the Finance Director. Significant travel may be required, including evenings and weekends.
Responsibilities include:
The Assistant to the Chair will support the Chair of the DSCC in their DSCC-related activities. They will work cross-departmentally to serve as the hub for all Chair scheduling, logistics, and operations within the DSCC. The Assistant will be a member of the Finance team and report to the Senate Services Director and the Finance Director. Significant travel may be required, including evenings and weekends.
Responsibilities include:
- Chair Scheduling and Coordination
- Manage the Chair’s schedule for DSCC obligations;
- Book and coordinate travel for the Chair;
- Draft and maintain travel itineraries for the Chair;
- Travel with the Chair on DSCC-related travel;
- Coordinate with members of the Finance team to prepare materials for the Chair;
- Assist with call time duties as assigned.
- Senate Services
- Assist the Senate Services Director with engaging the Democratic caucus in DSCC activities, including recruitment, tracking, and travel booking;
- Assist with contribution processing as needed;
- Manage the donor thank you program.
Candidates must have:
- At least 2 – 3 years of work experience;
- Experience staffing an elected official;
- Some scheduling experience;
- Demonstrated ability to practice discretion, as position entails wide-ranging access to highly sensitive political, personnel, and labor relations information;
- Clear and concise communication style with excellent interpersonal skills;
- Exceptional attention to detail.
The ideal candidate will also have the majority of the following qualifications:
- Experience managing the schedule of a Member of Congress or Senator;
- General knowledge of the Democratic Senate Caucus and commitment to restoring the Democratic majority in the Senate;
- Some experience with campaign fundraising or managing principal call time;
- Some experience using NGP or another fundraising database;
- A valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
