The Assistant Controller plays a crucial role at DCOMM, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial records and processes. Based in the Corporate Office in Austin, TX, this administrative position supports the finance team by managing accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, financial reporting, and compliance with accounting standards. This role is integral to maintaining the fiscal health and operational efficiency of the organization.

The ideal candidate for this role will bring at least 5 years of accounting experience, preferably with a telecommunications contractor or similar industry, such as construction, plumbing, or skilled trades. Familiarity with QuickBooks and advanced Microsoft Excel skills are essential. Requirements

YOUR ROLE IN ACTION

  • Recording Financial Transactions: Accurately enter daily financial transactions into accounting software, ensuring they are categorized correctly and recorded in the appropriate journals and ledgers. Maintain detailed and up-to-date records to support financial reporting and compliance.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process vendor invoices, ensure timely payments, and maintain accurate vendor records. Generate customer invoices, track outstanding balances, and follow up on overdue accounts to support efficient cash flow management.
  • Bank Reconciliations: Reconcile internal financial records with bank statements, identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly to ensure the accuracy of financial data.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare financial reports, such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, providing management with insights to support decision-making. Summarize and analyze financial data to identify trends and improve reporting efficiency.
  • Compliance and Record-Keeping: Maintain organized and compliant financial records to meet audit, tax, and regulatory requirements. Adhere to accounting principles and standards, ensuring all processes align with best practices and legal obligations.
  • Miscellaneous Support: Assist with tax form preparation. Support the finance team with various administrative and operational tasks as needed.
  • All Other Duties as Assigned: Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as directed by your supervisor to support the evolving needs of the business.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with a preference for candidates who have worked in industries such as telecommunications contracting, construction, plumbing, or other skilled trades. Proven ability to handle diverse accounting tasks in fast-paced environments is essential.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the operational and financial nuances of working with trade contractors, including project-based financial tracking and vendor management. Candidates with experience in telecommunications or similar industries will have an advantage.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of QuickBooks, with a track record of using it as the primary accounting platform. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for creating and analyzing financial reports is required. Experience with other financial tools or software is a plus.
  • Organizational and Administrative Skills: Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Strong skills in maintaining accurate financial records and coordinating financial processes across teams.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with internal teams, subcontractors, and external partners. Ability to present financial insights and compliance requirements in a clear, concise manner.
