DCOMM is seeking hardworking and motivated individuals to join our Bore Crew in Laredo, Texas. This role is essential in supporting our Outside Plant (OSP) construction services, specializing in underground fiber optic installation. The Bore Crew is responsible for operating and maintaining horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment, ensuring safe and efficient completion of projects.
This is a hands-on position requiring physical stamina, teamwork, and a commitment to safety. The ideal candidate has experience in underground utility construction, but we are willing to train the right candidates who demonstrate a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
YOUR ROLE IN ACTION
- Boring & Drilling Operations: Assist in horizontal directional drilling (HDD) operations, including potholing, conduit placement, and pullbacks.
- Equipment Handling: Operate and maintain drill rigs, vac trucks, and locating equipment in compliance with safety and performance standards.
- Site Preparation & Cleanup: Ensure job sites are properly prepped before work begins and cleaned up after completion.
- Safety Compliance: Follow OSHA regulations, company safety protocols, and customer safety requirements to ensure a hazard-free worksite.
- Underground Utility Locating: Work with locators to identify existing underground utilities and prevent damage.
- Team Coordination: Work closely with drill operators, locators, and laborers to complete projects efficiently.
- Material & Equipment Transport: Load, unload, and transport materials and equipment as needed.
- All Other Duties as Assigned: Support operational needs by taking on additional responsibilities as required.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Experience: Previous experience in underground utility construction or horizontal directional drilling (HDD) is preferred but not required.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 80 lbs, work outdoors in various weather conditions, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Safety Awareness: Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and following all company and regulatory safety standards.
- Team Player: Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a crew.
- Driver’s License: Must have a valid driver’s license and meet company MVR requirements.
PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
This position operates in outdoor construction environments, requiring adaptability to changing weather conditions and physical demands.
The role involves:
- Working in extreme heat, cold, rain, and other weather conditions.
- Climbing, bending, kneeling, and lifting heavy materials.
- Traveling between job sites, with occasional overnight travel as needed.
- Adhering to strict safety protocols, including wearing required PPE.
