Field IT Systems Administrator

Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable IT professional to join our team in the dynamic oil and gas sector. The ideal candidate will have a broad range of technical expertise, from providing day-to-day help desk support to managing complex IT systems as a Field IT Systems Administrator. This role involves frequent travel to offshore platforms to ensure the smooth operation of critical IT infrastructure in remote and demanding environments.

General Description and Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain Microsoft Windows Server environments, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability.
  • Administer and support Windows desktop operating systems, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and updates.
  • Manage and troubleshoot IP Telephony, VoIP and PRI systems.
  • Configure and maintain network infrastructure, including switches, routers, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and IP Subnetting.
  • Maintain and support VMware vSphere environments.
  • Manage HPE SimpliVity, Synology and other storage solutions.
  • Perform system backups, imaging and recovery.
  • Review system logs and resolve identified issues.
  • Install and maintain satellite-based internet service.
  • Install, configure and maintain camera surveillance systems.
  • Document procedures, troubleshooting steps, and maintain system diagrams (e.g. Visio).
  • Frequent travel to offshore platforms (via boat and/or helicopter) and remote sites for projects and general IT support.
  • Experience working with industrial control SCADA/PLC systems is a plus but not required.
  • Work closely with the IT Director and other team members to meet operational goals.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10 years of IT experience.
  • Expertise in Active Directory (Azure and On-Premise), Windows Server, and networking technologies.
  • Strong background working with Microsoft 365’s wide array of applications.
  • Proficient in power and hand tool usage for various IT related projects.
  • Strong customer service focus with solid interpersonal and communication skills; friendly, respectful, approachable and aims to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Willingness to travel frequently and work extended hours.
  • Dependable with outstanding work ethic, high energy; enthusiastic with a willingness to learn.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly organized, resourceful, and able to multi-task.
  • Remains calm and focused under pressure.
  • Detailed, accurate and committed to excellence.
  • Team-oriented, but also able to work independently, self-manage and prioritize.
  • Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record. Access to a company vehicle is provided for transportation between work locations.

Physical and Mental Demands Required to Perform Essential Functions

  • Must be qualified under applicable regulations and required fit testing.
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment which may include self-contained breathing apparatus.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, bending, sitting, kneeling, and crawling.
  • Ability to work in all climates and lift over 50 lbs. at times.
  • Lift, lower, push, and pull equipment and tools.
  • Work in confined/restricted working environment.
  • Work at elevated heights, in enclosed spaces and on uneven walk surfaces.
  • Climb ladders, stairs, and ramps.
  • Operate hand tools as well as power tools.
  • Have a sufficient ability to communicate, through sight, hearing, and/or otherwise, to perform assigned tasks and maintain proper job safety conditions.
  • Analyze and respond promptly to safety and environmental issues in a sound and timely manner.
  • Obtain and maintain Swing Rope Certification.
