Job Summary
The Clinical Trainer and Coverage Specialist is a dual-role position responsible for delivering comprehensive training to new and current clinical staff while ensuring continuity of patient care by providing Medical Assistant (MA) coverage as needed. This role involves designing and implementing training programs, mentoring clinical team members, and stepping into the MA role during staff shortages such as call-offs, PTO, or vacancies. The ideal candidate will be a skilled medical assistant with strong communication and organizational abilities, capable of balancing training responsibilities with hands-on patient care.
- This will be a hybrid position but must be located in the Lehigh Valley as that is central to all 8 of our locations.
Essential Functions
Training functions
- Operate as a clinical trainer to support all clinic operations with hands on onboarding training, EMR Training, implementation of Training Plan, and competency assessment for all new hires within the practice locations.
- Demonstrate thorough understanding of the responsibilities associate with each role in the practice
- Monitors and ensures new staff meet initial competencies and create follow up training plan when needed
- Create training curriculum and standard operating procedures for the different roles within the practices
- Maintains records and tracking of staff competency
- Become a super user in Mod Med to serve as a resource to troubleshoot issues within Mod Med (Mod Med Certification)
- Serves as a resource to provide training to improve staff performance issues as needed
- Runs reports congruent with assessing training needs, competencies, and onboarding for staff
- Identify employee developmental/training needs and develop programs/initiatives to meet those needs
- Assist with system integrations to maximize clinical outcomes
- Attend trainings as needed to support role development
- Other duties as assigned
Medical Assistant Coverage
- Provide support as needed: step into the MA role during instances of staff shortages, including call-offs, PTO, or vacancies.
- Maintain Continuity of Care: Ensure seamless patient care by performing MA duties such as preparing patients for exams, assisting with procedures, and prior authorizations
- Uphold Standards: Maintain the same level of professionalism, quality, and efficiency as expected of a full-time MA team member
Education, Skills, and Experience:
- High School Diploma required
- Must have certification from a Medical Assistant Program
- 3-5 years of relevant medical / surgical practice experience
- Professional attitude and appearance
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
- Excellent organizational skills
- Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
- Customer service attitude
- Experience with practice management software (ie EMA) and Microsoft Office Word and Excel
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at times.
- Must be able to travel to different locations daily and at the last minute.
