This role requires a highly skilled and dedicated Surgical Technologist to join our Deaconess Illinois Medical Center team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and sterilizing the operating room, assisting surgeons and the surgical team, and monitoring patient safety throughout the surgery.
Main Responsibilities
- Room Preparation: Set up and stock the operating room with necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment, adhering to sterilization protocols.
- Surgeon Support: Collaborate with surgeons and the surgical team to maintain a sterile environment and ensure effective communication.
- Patient Care: Monitor the sterile field, ensuring compliance with infection control standards and maintaining the safety and well-being of patients throughout the surgery.
- Documentation: Assist in maintaining accurate records of surgical procedures and inventory of instruments and supplies.
- Post-Surgery Support: Help in the clean-up of the operating room after surgery and assist in the proper handling and disposal of surgical waste.
Requirements
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) from an accredited program.
- Knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and sterilization techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
