From toddlers to seniors who are Deaf, DeafBlind, or Hard of Hearing, we come alongside to serve them in their pursuit of all of life’s opportunities. We have a dynamic team of individuals helping provide the community in West Michigan with a variety of offerings including excellent youth programming, hearing assistive technology, certified interpreters, workshops, American Sign Language classes and more.
Job Summary:
To aid in furthering our mission at Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services, we are seeking an Accountant to take ownership of the financial management and business functions of the organization. We desire a candidate who possesses an understanding of all aspects of accounting including proficiency of software and an aptitude for interpreting the financial statements. This individual would be in charge of maintaining records of all activities through Deaf & Hard of Hearing Services.
Key Responsibilities:
As our Accountant you will:
· Process deposits, bills and payments along with payroll and 1099s.
· Maintain QuickBooks Online software
· Assist with external annual review and report findings to the Board of Directors.
· Oversee other audits such as workers’ compensation, grants, or programs and generate schedules and reports as needed.
· Coordinate with program and event coordinators to set up and maintain program budgets.
· Organize registrations and transactions related to ASL workshops and events year-round.
· Ensure confidentiality of information and become HIPPA certified.
Qualifications & Skills:
The person filling this position will be instrumental in elevating the organization for successful growth. This is a vital role that requires excellent analytical skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively with flexibility and initiative. Having familiarity with accounting regulations governing non-profit organizations, employees and independent contractors is key.
